A! Performance Festival - Open Call

A! Performance Festival announces an open call for performances or ideas from performers, actors, dancers, visual artists, and others interested in contributing to the festival, which takes place October 10th – 13th now for the tenth time. Participants will receive 80.000 ISK for taking part. Travel costs and other costs that might arise are not refunded. Those who intend to answer the open call are encouraged to apply for grants. 

Those interested are asked to send an application to listak@listak.is. The application should include a written description of the idea (max 1 page) and of 2-3 earlier performances (photos, videos, websites). Deadline is March 31st.

A! Is an annual three-day-long international performance festival and a collaboration between Akureyri Art Museum, Akureyri Theater Company, Hof Culture House, The Gil Society, The Video festival Heim, The Akureyri Comprehensive College’s Art Line and Icelandic Art Center. A! Is the only festival of its kind in Iceland, focusing solely on performance art.

The festival presents a variety of performances and theater-based projects work of all kinds. Participants are up-and-coming artists, mid-career artist as well as established professionals. Among former perticipants are Sigurður Guðmundsson, Gjörningaklúbburinn, Dustin Harvey, Rúrí, Theatre Replacement, Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Tricycle Trauma, Curver Thoroddsen, Brák Jónsdóttir, Tales Frey, Anna Richardsdóttir, Kuluk Helms, Harpa Arnardóttir, Snorri Ásmundsson, Florence Lam, Olya Kroytor and Dýrfinna Benita Basalan.

Every year the festival turns Akureyri into a bustling cauldron of exciting performances. All events are free of charge.
