A! Performance Festival announces an open call for the 11th festival which will take place October 8th – 11th 2025. We call for ideas from performers, actors, dancers, visual artists and others interested in contributing to the festival.
Artists who are selected for participation will receive a commission of 80.00 ISK. Those interested are asked to send their application to umsokn@listak.is along with a description of their idea and a visual sample of their earlier work, no later than August 22nd, 2025.
A! is an annual four-day international performance festival that takes place in Akureyri. The festival is a collaboration between Akureyri Art Museum, Akureyri Theater, Hof Cultural Center, The Gil Society, Akureyri Visual Artists Association, The Video-festival Heim and Visual Art Department of Akureyri Comprehensive College.
Every year the festival turns Akureyri into a bustling cauldron of exciting performances and theater-based projects of various kinds. Participants are young up-and-coming artists and theater professionals. Amont those who have participated are Sigurður Guðmundsson, Icelandic Love Corporation, Hildur Hákonardóttir, Rúrí, Theatre Replacement, Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Kaktus artist group, Curver Thoroddsen, Tales Frey, Anna Richardsdóttir, Hekla Björt Helgadóttir, Yuliana Palacios, Egill Logi Jónasson and Halldór Ásgeirsson. As usual admission is free of charge.
