Björk Viggósdóttir was born in Akureyri 1982. She graduated with a BA degree from Iceland University of the Arts 2006, studied a master’s degree from the University of Iceland in Cultural Studies and Art Pedagogy from Iceland University of the Arts.

She has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Iceland and abroad, in places such as USA, South America, Europe and Asia. Among her solo exhibitions in Iceland is Kites in ReykjavíK Art Museum, Infinite Randomness in Þula, Marshall-house and Gravity - Circular Motion at Hafnarfjörður Center of Culture and Fine Art.

Björk creates interactive experiential installations, where older technologies blend with modern technology in visual art. The artworks are often loaded with symbolism and the works are assembled from diverse materials. Björk often uses multiple media in the installations, e.g. video, sound and sculpture. The installations create a harmony between materials and technology in a visual experience and evoke perception in the exhibition space, the imagery is often interpreted in such a way that all the senses of the viewer are opened.

The magic of the experience, the power that is created when all the media forms a harmony becomes like the instrumentalists of perception where movement for vision becomes in the foreground.
