By examining colors and forms one can learn a lot about visual art. Arranging forms on a picture plane or in a sculpture creates an artwork.
Forms can be two-dimensional, three-dimensional, organic or geometric, in diverse colors and textures. Colors are often used to arouse emotions and create an atmosphere. They can also be used as symbols, but people’s interpretations of colors can vary a lot, which is influenced by their background as well as context and culture.
The aim of the exhibition is to get museum guests to ponder on the meaning of colors and forms in visual arts, based on selected works from
Akureyri Art Museum‘s collection. The works are diverse and created with different materials and methods. Guests are also invited to participate in the exhibition by creating their own artwork, inspired by the exhibited works.
